GOP Rep. Issa plans Hunter Biden laptop investigation, warns White House to not destroy evidence

Issa specifically signaled out White House press secretary Jen Psaki and chief of staff Ron Klain.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., warned the Biden White House on Thursday against destroying evidence related to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, saying Republicans plan to investigate it should they take control of the House during midterm elections this Fall.

“Today, I put this White House — including Jen Psaki and Ron Klain — on notice: Don’t delete or destroy any evidence of your coordination and collusion in the Hunter Biden laptop scandal,” Issa tweeted Thursday evening, specifically signaling out Biden’s White House press secretary and his chief of staff.

Issa, the likely House Oversight Committee chair should the GOP take the House, told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Tuesday about his plans.

“What I can’t live with is the fact that when The New York Post, one of the oldest print newspapers in the country, founded in 1801, comes out with credible evidence, which they can show how they got it, what their sources were — there were no hidden sources on this — they not only got shut down by … Facebook and Twitter, but they got shut down by The New York Times, by public broadcasting, by virtually everyone,” Issa said at the time.

Less than a month before the 2020 election, The New York Post published an article with evidence of the shady business dealings of then-candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The outlet was punished for the factual story by social media companies such as Twitter, which temporarily shut down the Post’s account.

“We already know for a fact that Big Tech colluded with some of the nation’s most powerful media and most influential Democrat partisans in the intelligence community to suppress the truth, censor fact-based journalism, and cover for the Biden family,” the California Republican told Fox News on Thursday. “Now the full truth and complete accountability must follow.”

He is sending notice letters to Psaki and Klain, as well as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, several former U.S. intelligence officials, and others.

“I write to request you immediately initiate document preservation for all materials relating to questions, inquiry, conversation, strategy, and response, from 2020 to current, to the media reporting of the Hunter Biden laptop and/or its contents that first appeared in the New York Post on October 14, 2020,” Issa said in the letters which Fox obtained.

“Material preservation is essential for Congress to conduct a comprehensive fact-finding investigation into actions by technology companies, media organization and political allies to suppress information and prevent public awareness of matters involving the Biden Family,” he wrote.
