Issa condemns opponent Carl DeMaio’s support for sanctuary city policies
(ESCONDIDO) The Darrell Issa for Congress campaign announced today Issa has been endorsed by the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council. The Council represents the nearly 6,000 men and women who protect American national security and public safety from illegal immigration and illegal narcotics. The ICE Council joins the National Border Patrol Council in endorsing Issa for Congress.
“On behalf of the men and women of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council, we’re proud to endorse Darrell Issa for Congress in California’s 50th Congressional District,” said National ICE Council President Chris Crane. “This marks the first official endorsement of a candidate for the House of Representatives in the history of our organization. Congressman Issa has always staunchly supported the men and women of law enforcement and has proven himself to be a relentless advocate for what matters to the ICE Council — public safety, national security, and the enforcement of our nation’s laws. We know we can trust Darrell Issa and that he will continue to fight against public safety threats like sanctuary cities that endanger communities and put the lives of law enforcement officers at risk.”
“I’m thrilled to accept the endorsement of the National ICE Council and proud I’ve earned their trust through my consistent opposition to sanctuary city policies,” said Darrell Issa. “There’s a big difference between me and Carl DeMaio on sanctuary city policies: when he ran for San Diego Mayor, DeMaio said ‘It’s not the job of San Diego police to enforce federal immigration laws.’ Carl DeMaio has a weak record on immigration and enforcement and I’m the only candidate in this race who will work with President Trump to find solutions to these problems.”
