SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The State Department is urging all United States citizens to leave Iraq immediately.
The announcement comes after President Trump ordered an airstrike that killed Iran’s most powerful general, Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani was the leader of intelligence for Iran’s elite revolutionary guard, responsible for supporting terrorist groups across the middle east and the recent attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
According to a statement from the pentagon, the United States took, “decisive defensive action to protect U.S. personnel abroad.” United States officials say General Soleimani is responsible for hundreds of American deaths.
Former Congressman Darrell Issa responded to President Trump’s decision to kill Soleimani via Twitter writing, “Those who murder Americans and foment terror will pay the price. @realDonaldTrump’s decisive action made that clear. The days of blaming terrorist attacks on YouTube videos and turning a blind eye to evil are over.” Read more…
