House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the state’s five other Republican congressmen not named Duncan D. Hunter endorsed Issa over Jones and DeMaio

SAN DIEGO — Six Republican congressmen from California endorsed former Congressman Darrell Issa on Thursday in his bid to become the next representative of the 50th Congressional District.
The announcement Thursday night boasted in a headline the “entire California Republican delegation” endorsed Issa. That did not include Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, who promised to resign “shortly after the holidays” after pleading guilty Dec. 3 to a felony related to a years-long campaign finance scandal.
Issa, who represented San Diego County in Congress for 18 years before deciding not to run for reelection in 2018, is running to fill the seat Hunter will vacate.
He garnered the group endorsement over the other two GOP candidates: California Sen. Brian Jones and former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio. Read more…
